About Our Internship Program For Students
The goal of the Raider Business Assistance Cooperative is in part to help students gain work experience while working with businesses that play a role in their lives. The RBAC was started with the intention to help students still gain internship experience during the Covid-19 pandemic when many many internship offers were rescinded or drastically shortened. While internship changes were unavoidable during a pandemic, many students are now left with few means of bolstering their resumes during a time when companies are not eagerly hiring interns. Students, utilizing their own skills and knowledge, will work to help businesses achieve success and solve problems pro-bono. The variety of problems encountered by businesses is vast, and students of all disciplines and interests are needed. The RBAC aims to employ these students, through unpaid internships, to help small business in the Hamilton area solve economic problems caused by Covid-19. It is our goal that these internships will help give students the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
Students will also be paired with an alumni mentor who will offer key insights into the business world and provide a resource beyond this internship. Students can rely on the mentor to help them overcome any problem that seems daunting, or help them better understand a specific concept or program. Additioanlly, the mentorship structure provides the opportunity for student to learn more about the skills necessary to succeed after graduation. Our goal is to create a more connected community where Colgate students are able to give back to the community in this uncertain time and to build closer connections between the current Colgate student body and the alumni.
